• Okay, now I see all links to all tutorials on [link moderated] have been removed by a moderator. Are you going to also remove all the other help I’ve provided here where I typed out information instead of making a video?

I’ll wait to hear an explanation for this. Great way to turn one of your biggest helpers into a not so big helper.

Sorry, that doesn’t answer it for me.

I don’t even know what the link was…if it was to something that was irrelevant to what the poster asked then I would agree. The answer Matt gave there is far from justification for deleting all the links to my tutorials.

Maybe you should send some of the links you moderated from my posts to Matt and see if he would consider them spam…obviously, you or some mod did based on this opinion of that one post.

@michaelh so does this mean we can post links to a tutorial on our own sites as a reply that actually applies to the question at hand? The link you provided leads to a user posting a reply link that has nothing to do with the OP question.

What I’m asking is can we get a little more detail? Is it all considered ‘reply spam’ or just stuff that is serving no purpose. I can see where figaro’s posts lately can be considered spam because he is not answering a question he is just randomly posting article links.

@figaro your posts were not answering anyones question, they were just random posts of your links.

If you follow the wp-forum email list, Matt’s email address is there.

Please send him this link so he can view the posts:

Bull…point to one that wasn’t in direct response to a question or was a direct offer of free, helpful support.

@figaro every single one of them was it’s own original post. You were not directly answering a thread created by someone else. What you were doing is considered spam by promoting your website in many posts. From what I understand, to be able to use a link back to your own site you have to be REPLYING to someones question. Not just posting your own thread and assuming it is answering someones question.

kperrone – that topic seems disjointed now as it was moderated (not by me).

There is no compensation, even just links, for answering questions in the Forums.

I post a new post to the Miscellaneous forum when I create a new, free, support video. Over the past 9 months or so, I’ve posted about 30 of them simply to alert people of new, free, support videos. Is that what you are talking about?

I also have 59 pages of replies to people asking for help over about 18 months…you have 6 pages over about 3 years. Are you sure you really need to be lecturing me?

@figaro Lecturing? I’m not. I’m trying to understand what we are allowed to do, if I am wrong feel free to correct me but the attitude is not needed.

Any effort to answer questions in these forums is valued, even if just one answer.

But don’t expect compensation, whether it be links or otherwise.

Well, I’m going to log off tonight…just too pissed off to do anything productive. We’ll see if there are any answers tomorrow…

You just went on 5 different topics and posted the same link to your article where you are whining about the forum here. How is that not spamming? Just curious.

It is spamming…the first ever from me…glad someone can recognize the difference.

    @kperrone
    Generally the answer is no.

Someone pointing to their site to answer a question doesn’t seem like a bad thing, and personally, I wouldn’t moderate a link posted once or twice. But a constant link barrage to one’s own site is a problem–it gets abused quite frequently.

On the other hand, if a question is routinely asked in the Forums, then a proper response should be developed and added to the Codex. A whole Codex article doesn’t necessarily need to be created, it could be just a simple question/answer added to one of the appropriate Codex FAQ articles.

@figaro Kind of childish for such a grown man don’t you think?

EDIT: can’t you guys just ban him and get it over with?
