3.1.3 upgrade removed all wp-config.php network enable code

  • I upgraded from 3.1.1 to 3.1.3 and two of the self hosted installs I run completed lost their network functionality. I discovered that the upgrade replaced the network enabled wp-config.php file with the standard wp-config.php code.

    Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

    WordPress itself doesn’t even contain a wp-config.php file, that file is created only when you do the install process. Upgrade process can’t replace it.

    Maybe your host reverted some files from backups somehow?

    that’s what I thought as well but wasn’t 100% certain via network installs. They are hosted at bluehost and I usually use the simplescripts update tool. Any thougts there?

    If you’re using their upgrade tool, then all bets are off. We can only really tell you about WordPress itself, not third party upgraders.

    Then it looks like all bets are off here indeed. However, this thread should serve as fair warning to anyone else plus if anyone has additional information, I’d love to hear about it.
