• I just updated to v3.1 It just so happens that I am learning how to embed a QuickTime video into a Post. Now, the post editor no longer shows the embedded video button.

The only option available is the Movie button at the top of the editor window, but that only creates a link to a movie in the post.

Where did the embedded video options go?

  • would guess the thought process was that it wasn’t needed now since embeds have been directly supported in WP for a bit now, by just pasting the url in the post

But that is just my guess. I didn’t realize that button allowed setting of dimensions or colours as others have eluded to, I’ve never used the button myself….

This problem is NOT solved with that method for all users. This does not solve the problem of embedding YOUR OWN movie files from your WordPress media storage area.

Note everyone is pulling content from YouTube. Some of us have original content that is not posted on YouTube because it is not appropriate for that venue (example, professional training material).

@blazomania: I had the same problem. Your solution works !!
    Thanks buddy

    You are welcome. ??

I see how that works and thanks but the thought of not being able to go back and edit a post without screwing up the embed is awful.

yes you are absolutely right. Its strange why WordPress do so … We have to adopt that method till WordPress Resolve the Button’s Issue…

That post contains some very poor advice. Do not switch tabs between HTML & Visual Editors. You will lose some of your markup.

its Written there that after Pasting the Embed Code to the Post. Do not Switch Back to ViSual Mode and just Publish the POST … Try and Check what happen if you switch back to Visual for Editing or whatever.

So … If you can correct me then go ahead and tell me where i made the mistake … Simple Correct it ?? Thanks …

People will revert back to the Visual Editor when they edit the Post or Page at a later date. Please do not encourage users to switch between tabs without warning them of the inherent dangers. It’s the forum regulars who have to deal with the aftermath of this sort of “advice”.

Its just an ALTERNATiVE WAY DUDE … if u Are not happy with that just leave it … and find a better solution and TELL ME TOO. But some people are Happy with this Solution… And May b u didn’t read the post Completely. I also wrote there that DO NOT SWiTCH B/W TABS OTHERWiSE IT ALL wiLL MESSED UP. so its not encouraging i thought… ??

Its not just the yellow box is missing the way it changed the code is gone too. I put some embed codes in and they will completely be removed if you click visual and i mean i click html and there is no embed code anymore anywhere. The visual use to help adjust certain embed codes to work with WordPress and now i got to make my own codes and not use the visual anymore. So basically the visual is worthless to me now.

It’s poor advice. People need to understand that once they have used the HTML tab, they must continue using that tab ad infinitum for that Page or Post. Your article does not make that clear.

    find a better solution

As soon as an appropriate, safe, solution is available, we will point to it. Until then, users must get used to editing all of their first party video Pages & Post using the HTML tab only.

And where in the interface is the warning about THIS? It is extremely un-intuitive to have a tabbed window that destroys code if you go back and forth between one tab and another. I guess the design must rely on the fact that MOST users will not ever want to see the HTML code. Bad design.
