I had customized the TwentyTen theme. Having upgraded to 3.1, much of my customization (but not all) has been lost.

I’ve never known a WP upgrade to mess with a theme before – but I have never used TwentyTen before. Before I upgrade to 3.1 on any other sites, is this going to happen with other themes, or is it just TwentyTen that is the problem?

Also, if is just TwentyTen, after I have either restored from backup or done my customization again, will I be able to avoid this happening in future by giving my version of TwentyTen a different name?

    Thanks for your help!

P.S. To be specific … most of the lost customization was in the header area, but some was around posts (e.g. it has put back the navigation bar under the header, and put back the author name and post date on all posts, all of which I had deleted).

    should explain it all

You can never edit twentyten, as since WP 3.0, twentyten is the ‘default’ core theme.

Thank you so much! I restored from backup, followed the instructions for “copy and rename” on that page, upgraded to 3.1 again and it is fine ??
