• I am trying to install a Google Books Preview button on a WordPress blog I help manage: https://www.alicepung.com/blog

I take the code generated from this Preview Wizard: https://code.google.com/apis/books/docs/preview-wizard.html

I post it into the relevant page of the blog, save it, and no preview button appears. I did some preliminary investigations and found out that WordPress does not support Java. Although, “JavaScript from trusted partners, such as YouTube and Google Video, is converted into a WordPress shortcode when a post is saved.”

I wrote to WordPress support to see if Google Books would/could be added to the trusted partner list. The response I received was helpful:

“Since your blog is self hosted, you can enter the javascript code directly to your blog. Google Books isn’t currently supported on WordPress.com but I have added this to our user suggestion list which is reviewed on a regular basis.”

However, I have tried posting the Google Preview code into the ‘Page Content’ field of any given page, saved the page, the code is not disrupted, but the Google Preview button does not display. I have tested this on a standard HTML site, and the button works fine.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your time!
