301 redirect of phpbb, how to edit .htaccess

  • I have a phpbb forum, let me call it abcd.com/forum and I want to redirect it to my new site vxyz.com.
    The second site is also a phpbb forum but as you can see, the url address structure is different.

    I have edited the .htaccess file from abc.com/forum to redirect to vxyz.com but I am getting 404 Not Found errors.

    What is the solution for this?

    How should the .htaccess look like here?

    NB: I have transferred files and vxyz.com is up and running perfectly, but I want to avoid site duplication, of course.
