Hi, I was working on fixing all the 800 crawl errors on my site last Friday and I have successfully 301 redirected all the missing 404 error pages to their respective functional pages.

However, I logged into my WordPress backend this morning and realized that there’s no option for 301 redirect and I was wondering what happened to it. Did some check and realized that there were many Yoast users who also have their 301 redirect removed from Yoast.

I checked the 800 crawl errors which I have fixed, and now they are back to square one. I have to redo every crawl error again.

I’m confused and appalled on what happened to my 301 redirect functionality and if Yoast actually remove this, this is very low and small-time. No warning given and worst still, after I have spent so much time redirecting all my broken links, they just removed the 301 redirect feature and undo all my work.

  • Hi
this option is only in the “pro” version, and ideally you should be backing up your dbase prior to updating any major plugins; and/or your entire site regularly to roll-back if needed, including all plugins.

Also as a tip, use the htaccess option and make sure you make periodic backups of your htaccess file via FTP. This lives “outside” of Yoast plugins and can be manually edited.

It’s also possible your redirects actually still work, but some plugin is conflicting with the admin panel in Yoast — or, you updated to free plugin vs the PRO version. (The free version does NOT have 301 redirection option as of v2.3).

    I would suggest you
    a) check your redirects still work or not
    b) check your htaccess file
    c) check which version of Yoast SEO you’re using
    d) try disabling other plugins to see if there is conflict with Yoast SEO, if running correct version

I don’t work here, just regular user.
