301 Redirect anything in a certain category

  • I Had a category containing news, https://www.monkeys.com/news I am going to remove the news section and want to redirect all the pages to my home page, so they don’t get a 404 error.

    Will this damage my Google relationship? is it better to leave them to 404?

  • Redirecting via a 301 is a completely Google/SE-friendly way to send visitors to another page (on-site or off-site) without affecting your SE reputation.

    Think about what’s best for the user, and usually SE’s will follow.
