• Very disappointed with 3.0 and word-press as a whole. I’ve been running my blog for five years now and this upgrade killed it. I’ve tried every suggestion in FAQ’s, blogs etc. I can find no solution. All my posts and database files are still there, they are just no-longer visible

  • I’ve had similar issues on a few sites. If you login to your site through an FTP client and replace everything except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php with a fresh version of wordpress 2.9, you can downgrade to the old version.

    When you upgrade to 3.0 next time, instead of clicking anything on the screen after the upgrade retype the admin URL (https://domain.com/wp-admin) in your location and you should be fine.

    really? I just backed up my wordpress site from dreamhost and I installed the newest wordpress 3.0 just a few mins ago haven’t tested it out cause i have an index.html going on the main part so people know that its down for the time being

    You may need to repair the database.

    Access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel), check all of the tables, and choose “Repair tables” from the pull-down menu.

    Most of my blogs upgraded fine, but my clone copy and test ground of my biggest blog (before I upgrade him, I’ll let other persons do the bug-tracking for another dozen days), this one also had a white screen of death after the upgrade.

    I learned my lesson : deactivate all plugins before upgrading.
    If you have a cache system, empty the cache, deactivate the plugin, make sure there’s no caching option left. And only after that, do the upgrade.

    Thanks Don, tried that, no luck though,

    This sucks, all my files are there in admin, just no visible on the web page. It’s like content does not exist.
