    I am running a 3.0 multisite subdomain installation with Donncha’s domain mapping plugin, and have several domains mapped as follows:

    mainsite123.com
    blog1.mainsite123.com -> blog1.com
    blog2.mainsite123.com -> blog2.com
    blog3.mainsite123.com -> blog3.com
    etc...

    I want to map an additional blog as the following:
    blog4.mainsite123.com -> blog4.someotherdomain.com
    where the main site of someotherdomain.com is non-WP, ASP content, hosted on an entirely different server.

    how do I accomplish this task, if it is even possible?

    the A-records for all of the above domains/hosts point to the WP install as I outlined in the post at:

    Andrea? ??

  • Thanks for your quick reply !
    I tried it without filling Cname too.As you suggested I need to use any one of them .I prefer using cname.
    I will remove the Numeric IP from domain mapping page .

    Could you suggest me If i am missing anything from over all configuration.
    BTW I am being redirecting to signup page If I use only IP or only Cname.
    ****
    Another doubt If a user X need to configure his own domain like name.hisdomain.com creating cname record or pointing to my IP from his domain panel or cpanel .Am I need to park his domain?

    Thanks again !

    BTW I am being redirecting to signup page If I use only IP or only Cname.

    This is a big hint. It means WordPress can’t find the domain in the database.

    Which usually means you didn’t fill in the domain under Tools->Domain Mapping.

    Yes, you do.

    Sorry for asking more questions.

    I am not sure If I follow I filled the numeric IP as recommended in the documentation.AM I missing some thing else?

    BTW Do you mind If request you to look at the issue and make you as super admin .Can I ask that help ?

    Thank you !

    Yes, you are.

    Go to the SUBsite. Look at the Tools -> Domain Mapping menu item. there is a text field there. Fill in the domain you want to map.

    I already did it when I first asked about this here a 7 days ago.
    I filled three domains there at domain mapping menu.
    one domain is one of the parked domains.
    second is pointed to numeric IP from external domain panel.
    third is created via cname.

    I am trying these three domains hoping that at least one domain works with correct configuration.Before this I tried masking with just one domain .

    Undo everything you did.

    Pick ONE domain.
    Rewmove the cname for now as it *overrieds* the IP address method.

    If you’re using the IP, you *also* have to park the domain in cpanel.

    If you’re using the IP, you *also* have to park the domain in cpanel.

    Which one ?If I use try.pingit.info to mask test.iliked.info .I should park the domain try.pingit.info .Am I correct?

    Thank you !

    you;re supposed to be parking a *full* domain on top of the actual install (not the sub blog).

    I tried it as “addon” and set the root as
    pingit.info Homepublic_html/iliked.info pingit not redirected

    later I used DNS editor.It shows :
    pingit.info. 14400 IN A 74.86.202.40

    Later I filled pingit.info at my test.iliked.info site’s domain mapping page .

    But failed .

    I tried this with a new wordpress multi site installation.It worked well for me when I try to mask the domain like test.mydomain.com with mask.mydomain.com .But it is not working If I am trying to mask any domain other than this main domain of installation.
    If I try to use domain2.com to mask test.mydomain.com .It’s going to signup page.
    Am I missing some thing?
    Thank you !

    Do not Mask it, use the “park a domain” feature in cpanel.

    What host are you on?

    I am using Arvixe.com ‘s shared hosting .It has cpanel .

    Then you use the Parking feature in cPanel.

    Thanks ! a lot for helping me. It’s working now .you answered every question I asked with good patience .

    Sorry for the trouble I caused ??
