3.0 Menus Auto Fill

I am looking to use the 3.0 menu system for items such as custom links and such, but still would like to retain the automatic page inclusion offered in functions such as get_pages.

There is a function in the nav-menu.php class entitled _wp_auto_add_pages_to_menu, and I was not sure if this was a stump of some planned future development, or if there was a method by which I can accomplish this.
