When I tried to activate the Beta version of the Simple Calendar plugin I got the following error:
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare gce_print_calendar() (previously declared in /home/wp_wf4jtd/northwestflyanglers.org/wp-content/plugins/google-calendar-events/includes/misc-functions.php:8) in /home/wp_wf4jtd/northwestflyanglers.org/wp-content/plugins/simple-calendar/includes/functions/deprecated.php on line 32

@bschormann sorry I think I don’t understand about the ‘Title’, ‘Access’, ‘Date’ – which screen are you referring to? Also, if you have issues with the previous version and not the current beta, perhaps let’s move that in another thread.
Neither the hover or the click option is working for me on my computer. On my iPhone, the click option is allowing me to click, but nothing happens when I click.
Also, I am pulling the “location” info and it is putting it twice with a dash in the middle (ex: “- Location: Baptist DeSoto – Baptist Desoto”) — I just read where you know about this and are working on it – THANKS
Lastly, The text styles are not updating in the grid view of the calendar. For example, I am making the title bold with a bullet point in front of it. It is working on the sidebar widget (list view), but the grid calendar isn’t showing those changes.
https://www.fbcob.org/calendar is the link. I know I am using it on a live site, but I’m dangerous like that I guess.
This is the code I am using for the calendars:
? [event-title]
[if-all-day][if-multi-day]- Days: [start-date offset=”+2″] – [end-date offset=”-2″][/if-multi-day]
[if-single-day]- Time: All day[/if-single-day][/if-all-day]
[if-not-all-day]- Starts: [start-time]
– Ends: [end-time][/if-not-all-day]
[if-location]- Location: [location][/if-location]
[if-description]- Description: [description autolink=true][/if-description]Hey there,
thanks again for more feedback – well of course seeing the calendar live on a site it’s very useful to me I can’t deny that. But at the same time didn’t really want to break any site with existing events so I needed to be very clear. The plugin does have a lot of new things under the hood meant to build more upon.
Okay, so, as for the styles, I understand better. But the overlap is due to the CSS of your theme, not really the plugin. If you open Chrome Dev Tools or similar inspector, it should highlight the
<div>
areas. I think with all those floats and margins there’s something that doesn’t go well.I’m adding some base styles to the calendar which should make the list more solid (you have a big margin there). So, rather than having people fixing obvious problems, I will try to have a good default styles. (And then yes, try to push the customizer idea for now).
As for the lack of hover/click. There’s something strange happening there. The events are eventually printed when you hover, but they are at the bottom of your page (just scroll down after some hovering). Need to figure out if it’s a plugin problem or current theme problem. Do you mind switching just one moment to the default theme and see if the problem is persistent? Does not look like to me a javascript problem at first glance because you have no errors in console (although third party plugin/script interference can’t be completely ruled out).
Thanks!
Done. It looks GREAT on a default theme. I like the way the boxes look with the day highlighted in black and all the same size. For some reason when my theme is activated it changes the whole look of it.
Take a look and I will change it back when you are done.

All my problems were with the Simple Calendar. So I decided to wipe everything clean and start all over again. All of the problems went away except for the issue of the formatting (the post that begins “The calendar appears to be working…). All I can think of is that when I activated the Simple Calendar it picked up data from the Google Calendar. And perhaps the script got confused. This time I removed all the files when I deleted the Simple Calendar. Who knows?? At any rate now I can get on with the more advanced features. Thanks for your patience.

After going back to my theme, the calendar is showing up like it was on the default theme!
Sorry to keep bothering you, but when I click on the “advanced option” to make my list calendar “static”, the arrows on the top of the calendar list are still there, but they aren’t functional.
Is there any way to take that large date off the top of the list so that it would just go down directly to the events grouped by date?
Please let me know if I am pestering you or if all this info is helpful! I will stop and wait on new versions if you have enough to work on now ??
Thanks
I’m going to remove the bullets in the list as default – they’re not nice and like you do, users could reintroduce them as HTML without touching CSS.
The hover looks working on the default theme, probably it’s working on your site now because of some caching? (I didn’t think of that before, sorry).
sorry I wrote the post above before your last message
no, no pestering at all, me and others published the beta also to gather useful feedback to make the plugin better and make sure it works before releasing on www.remarpro.com to everybody – so on the contrary you’re very helpful thanks. Try to check if dates and times are accurate, that’s usually my biggest worry because handling dates and time or timezones is not as straightforward as it may seem.
try ‘compact list’ to make the list smaller
as for the static thing I’ll look into that
many thanks
@bschormann I understand. I’m sorry but I believe we warned that the beta wasn’t supposed to be installed on live sites but just for testing on local/staging sites. That’s why wasn’t released as a normal automatic update, to avoid causing inconveniences. If you are unsure, I think it’s best to wait for the official release. In the meanwhile, to restore your old plugin settings and calendar data, there’s no other way than restoring a backup or entering again api key and setting up each calendar manually.
No sweat. The site is in development anyhow.Previous calendar plugins just didn’t seem to do it for me.
thanks ??
and glad you’re helping too, I adjusted something in the styles after seeing the calendar in your theme – I’ve updated the beta zip in the meanwhile
I still haven’t understood what did you meant by ‘Title, Date and Access’ though
have a nice weekend
Sorry for naive question. Where is the update beta zip?

The times and days are not displaying correctly on the calendar.
On the Google calendar there is a weekly repeating event on Tuesdays from 5PM to 6PM.
However when it is displayed on the Simple Calendar the event is listed at 12AM to 1AM and it is displayed on the wrong day (Wednesday). In addition the day of the week changes when changing the month. To see this go to https://www.northwestflyanglers.dreamhosters.com/fishing-adventures/. Notice that in October it appears on Wednesdays, in November it appears on Thursdays and this pattern continues every two months
