Thank you for this accessible theme. It is easy to customize and very user friendly.

I am stuck though in the default highlights. I can’t seem to find where to remove or change the 3 default highlights. I don’t see them when I go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Highlights. At the moment I can see Easy Setup, Accessible and Responsive, and Jetpack Compatible as the first 3 highlights.

    Thanks.

Hi! In the setting you mentioned you can either hide all the highlights, or add anything to highlight 1-3, for example choosing “no icon” to hide it.

Thanks for your reply Carolina. My problem is that these 3 highlights that are currently appearing on my page are nowhere to be found in the Frontpage Highlights. It’s not Highlight 1 or 2 or 3.

But if I click on hide all highlights, they do get hidden. I just can’t find where to edit them.

    I might be missing something….

The sample highlights are a hardcoded fallback. Just create new highlights instead of editing them.

Thanks for following up this issue Carolina. But I did create new highlights. When I created 3 new highlights, they were added below the 3 hardcoded ones. I can’t find a way to hide or delete the 3 hardcoded. If I hide highlights, then everything gets hidden including the 3 that I just created which I do not want to happen.

When I just updated my theme, this feature broke. I had 3 highlights and they worked. They are still there but below all the new stuff that was added – Easy Setup, Accessible and Responsive, and Jetpack Compatible.

Carolina – you said these were hardcoded fallback, but how do we delete them? That’s the part that is missing on our end.

oilslife, glad to hear I’m not the only one having this issue. I was beginning to think that I was not seeing things right. Hope this gets resolved because I really like the theme.

I see where this info is all hard-coded in, but I’m not sure just what or how much to delete. I don’t write themes and I’m afraid I’ll break it even more.

I love the theme but I had important content in the highlights so I need to get it working again.

You need to re-add your highlights. The previous stylesheet was only adapted for 3 highlights and named very poorly, this is more flexible -sorry for the inconvenience!

But did you actually edit highlight 1-3?

Unlike oilslife I just downloaded my theme last Sunday so I guess my version is pretty new. I can’t find a way to delete the Easy Setup, Accessible and Responsive, and Jetpack Compatible highlights.

Ok now that I’ve actually tested it -there is a logical error in the code. -Sorry again, its 4 o clock in the morning ??
I can fix it, but it will probably take a week before the code can be available on www.remarpro.com, because it has to be reviewed.

If you can, for now, open highlights.php and delete lines 10-42.
Then also try logging out and see if there are still errors.
Only admins should ever see the fallback texts.

-The “re add your highlights” only helps if you experienced css errors.

Great! Will test this later and give you feedback ??

I edited the file and it took out the hardwired code.

BUT, the result is very different than the original. I have my highlights . . . but they’re ugly. Instead of lining up side by side then are one on top of each other. Instead of floating over the background like the CTA and tagline, they are now just broad strips across the screen. I see where I can adjust the color of the background but not where I can have them appear like they used to, floating over my background image. And they aren’t buttons/squares like they were – they’re just strips. I’m not sure if that makes sense. I can’t post a link that will help because I’ve hidden them again.

Is there any way I can get the old, unupdated theme? I was happy with 3 highlights. (I unfortunately didn’t save a copy.)
