3.0 Update (Elementor generally) is a SERIOUS MESS!
-
Elementor is full of crap. They just get worse and worse. I am dead scared to use Elementor for my sites again. The issues that are in this update, were the same I reported in beta. There are even more issues here than in beta.
The developers ignore good suggestions and keep rolling stuff that makes no sense. This is where I part away with this nonsense. All my sites are broken. Even the previous version of Elementor has serious issues. What the hell!!!
I have to now search for something better. Maybe I should be looking at Britz and would advise anyone reading this to STAY AWAY FROM ELEMENTOR!

What an bullshit. Elementor get’s better and better. 3.0 Update is fine!
@fabienz maybe you just use Elemetor for little things and probably using it for the first time. You are probably not a hardcore developer. If you were, it would not take you 1 sec to see all the damage this update has caused. Elementor is full of crap.
If you had websites that you manage, you will see how this update messes everything up. Deleting stuff in the builder, completely wipes your site clean. Undo does not work. What else can I say… this is crap! So many people here and on GitHub are complaining of the same thing. Support is so quick to shut people down but happily collect our money.
Mind you, Elementor team has acknowledged that there are numerous issues with this update. Not sure how you think something that they themselves acknowledge is bad, is good for you. As usual, they will make promises, and do absolutely nothing.

I am a hard core developer and the 3.0 update has been great and fine. You just need to be mindful of what Elementor really is, a tool to make somewhat difficult and tedious thing simple. If you use a lot custom CSS and and absolute positioning to get your design “right”, chances are you are better off hand coding, but then you’d probably be complaining some browsers update breaks your design then.
I am not saying that it is perfect, but a good developer knows the limits of the tool and workaround it. If you could specifically let us know what’s broken, perhaps I would have been more empathic.

@0ee2 Thank you for your answer. I’m not a developer, “just” a designer. But I’ve already created some simple but also a little more complex websites with Elementor for customers and I have to say that it worked very well in 95% of the cases.
I know 3.0 is a big update and brings a lot of changes. I think the biggest problem is the many third party plugins that aren’t set to 3.0 yet. As soon as this is the case (hopefully soon) there will be hardly any problems.
I have already converted a few of my websites to 3.0.1 (+ Pro 3.0) and I could not find any major defects, rather little to nothing. And above all nothing that prevents me from creating a “new design system”.
But I can understand if you have problems with Elementor. The best way to describe them is on Github. I think it doesn’t make so much sense to blame Elementor for this alone and to be so negative in your assessment.
Greetings!
@fabienz thanks for your response. I have been with Elementor from the beginning. For some of us who use things like queries, and stuff apart from core design which by the way, also have issues, and lacks modern fundamental features, this update is a pain.
I have tried severally to describe the issues multiple times on Elementor GitHub page as a Pro customer. I even pleaded with the team to give me a response. Instead, THEY CLOSE CASES without any response. When another customer reopens the case for same reason, they close it again. Which is baffling. So many people complain about the same thing on their page.
I think i have the right to criticize what I am paying for with my hard-earned money.
The support is terrible especially when they don’t know what to do about your case.
Well, you can stick with them if it works well for you currently. But be careful. => A harmless advice.
@thelyrist a good developer sure know workaround things. But for how long would that “good developer” be working around things that are “of basic” necessity in web development? especially if you have to hand in dynamic projects for major clients on short intervals. For a company that tags itself as the world best, it’s unacceptable.
If this “good developer” sends in a request on Github to discuss these “workaround issues”, and even offer a probable solution, and the request is SHUT DOWN alongside – others complaining of the same thing, without any improvement whatsoever other than re-tweaking previous accessories and calling it a “Major update” then something is definitely wrong.
Besides, many “hard and soft core developers” are still complaining about this even after my post. SOMETHING IS DEFINATELY WRONG!!!
I can understand that you are being “hopeful” which is ok. But right now, it’s not something I would like to use for any major production.
Thanks, I’m ALWAYS be careful about updates. Even as a beta tester, I don’t trust an official release. Definitely not Elementor! ??
The thing with the issues that are closed on Github is often because a comparable or similar problem has already been reported. I think it is tedious to have the same request over and over again, at some point you lose orientation of things.
I think, despite the many criticisms and bugs that exist, Elementor’s Page Builder is on the right track. A lot is planned for 3.X …
May I ask what your alternatives would be? Away from Elementor sounds easy enough to say, but do you have another plan?
BUT: What is definitely still missing are some functions and improvements to the existing widgets. According to Elementor, this is coming very soon and is on their roadmap, but I hope it won’t take that long.
@fabienz ?? Thanks again for your kind reply. I am still searching… as I said. Some of the sites I created using Divi 4.0 are still running smoothly, and no major update has broken anything. The support is very responsive and helps resolve issues quickly, and give tips for optimization and other things. So far so good. But I am also checking out Britz at the moment. Gutenberg with Kadence is VERY PROMISING.
I also code in Reactjs. But there are some jobs we use WordPress for depending on the scale of the project.
As for Elementor Github, it is true that similar claims get shut down. But it’s different when an already shut-down claim is RE-OPENED for same issues. Some issues reported since 2017 are still ignored. No response from the team and they just fade off. They want to do their own things, their own way, which is good. I wish them the best.
I just cancelled my life-long subscription. If the Elementor 3.x.x turns out good, then I will take a “little” peek – with caution into it. ??
Best regards.
@0ee2 Hi I understand the frustration but it would be more productive if you could be specific on the issues that you have reported and your workaround so that we can better understand the magnitude.
Elementor has its quirks. It has the tendency of creating blank “Default kit” if I preview some template and later cancel out, etc. But it is essentially what it is, a markup generator, and a reasonably good one at it. There are certain limitations that are due to HTML and CSS and I am sure of which you are very well aware.
Can I produce much cleaner code than Elementor? Absolutely.
Can I produce good enough websites quicker than using Elementor? Probably not.
Is Elementor good enough for most cases? A resounding 80% of time. Other time, you might opt to roll your own or use other products.I am so very sorry the update broke your design. Elementor 3.0 is a major version and includes some substantial infrastructure changes, and unfortunately some conflicts are bound to happen. We always recommend having a backup for your site and using a testing environment before installing a new version.
I’d love to try to help you solve the issue.
1. You can revert to an earlier version of Elementor: https://docs.elementor.com/article/382-rolling-back-to-a-previous-version-of-elementor
2. We created a fix for some of the issues, and are working on another fix. Read about the latest in the community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Elementors/
3. Visit our FAQ page which also has a step by step guide to help you avoid issues: https://docs.elementor.com/article/677-faq-for-elementor-3-0@benpines you guys should fix the delete. No items can be deleted. I tried in production and test. Even the undo doesn’t work. The items remain there, grey out and most times, remove all the elements and break the entire site. Nothing seems to be working properly. Cleared both browser and server cache, NOTHING!
I have no plugins installed, just elementor and elementor pro. I am using the Hello Theme. This issue is just one of the many issues so far.
Done everything in the docs, STILL SAME. I created a new domain, fresh WordPress install, STILL NOTHING. version Rolled back to previous version and everything is completely broken. Even my backup when restored acts weird.
I cant use this for my clients.
Yep. Confirmed bugs with the latest releases. Broke a ton of sites, still broken days later. I hope they make a major change over there.
This was the best page builder plugin to come to WordPress and they went and ruined it along with the reputation of a ton of good developers all over the world.
