I created this site under the user Admin. Now, the customer wants to be able to make updates, and I created their user account, initially as an Editor.

They can successfully make changes to all Pages. The copy on the home page is a Post (necessary so the slider/feature images will work properly). They can not get their updates to this Post to “take.” The appear in the edit screen, but never go live.

I swapped the user’s status to Administrator, but still have the same issue. If I log in as Admin, it works great, but when I log in under their user name, no go.

Can only the author of a post update it?? Any other ideas?

  • What exactly does your client see when they try to update the post? Can you have them send a screenshot?

Have you tried to reproduce this using another admin account?

I logged in as my client and tried to make an update. I see everything exactly as I do when I’m logged in as Admin. I can make the edit, Publish it, and it says at the top “Post updated..” And this is a simple update…just changing the text.

And it’s only on the Post that they can’t update….?

I will create another user account and see if I can edit it there. Any other ideas?

What browser is your client using?
Don’t tell me they’re using Internet explorer ?? lol

haha… honestly I have no idea what browser they are using, but when I logged in as their user, I’m on Mac Firefox.

I created a test user and logged in to the post. I can VIEW the update I made under their user name (I made some text red). But it does not appear live (I’ve viewed it on multiple computers.)

HOWEVER….. as my test user, my edit shows up (I added green text). The red text is still missing, but the green shows up.

    W-E-I-R-D!

Maybe I just give them a new user account and assume something is corrupt with theirs?

Are you using a caching plugin?

    …not to my knowledge….
