I have 2fa activated on my site. Most of the time when I try to login through wp-admin I get the error “CODE REQUIRED: Please provide your 2FA code when prompted.”

But it doesn’t actually show the prompt so I can’t enter the code anywhere. I get this message most of the time but it randomly works fine like 1 times out of 7 logins.

I thought it was cloudclare rocket loader but I turned it off and was still getting the error.

Here are the error messages I’m getting.

    Thanks!

Hi @sidelancer, thanks for your message and additional information about what you’re seeing in the browser console.

Often these specific types of issue are down to plugin or theme conflicts. Firstly I would switch the site to a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-One to see if it resolves. If that doesn’t fix it, please can you try disabling all plugins except for Wordfence and observe whether you see the error messages then? Feel free to install a maintenance mode plugin during this testing to prevent issues for visitors to your site.

If the problem resolves when the WordPress site is basically “default” with only Wordfence on top, try reenabling your theme/plugins one-by-one until the issues start to reoccur. You may then need to reach out to the relevant plugin or theme’s support to see whether they’ve seen this sort of behaviour before.

Let me know how you get on!

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Thanks, looks like the async javascript addon is the culprit.
