2FA problems when working with staging/sudomains

  • PROBLEM: If I setup 2FA on 1 staging site and then either push that site live or clone it, that 2FA code now works for both sites.. which from security standpoints, is a problem.

    How do I make sure that each of my staging sites & live site have unique codes? Do I have to go as far to uninstall and reinstall the plugin?

    Any help is appreciated.

    NOTE: Yes, i do understand that when I setup 2FA, each code will be unique, but when I go to push or clone, that code is duplicated. (repeating above point)

  • Thanks for reaching out. I believe you’d need to exclude pushing the wfls_2fa_secrets database table either direction. Before you do the next clone I’d deactivate 2FA for all the staging users, then clone the site to staging (without the wfls_2fa_secrets database table), and finally let the users setup 2FA new up on it.
