The field for the 2FA Code sometimes displays a 6-digit code already in the field. This happens even if my browser cache has been completely emptied multiple times since last logging into my site, which may have been weeks ago.

If I delete the code and enter a new one generated by Microsoft Authenticator, then login proceeds normally as expected.

Where is this “pre-filled” code coming from or being stored?

Hello @phonyroyal and thanks for reaching out to us!

I actually had this same issue a few months back. My browser was Auto-Filling a preexisting 2FA code. If you’re using Chrome(as I was) you have to turn off Auto-Filling in the settings.

Also, if you have a browser extension for your authenticator, it might be prefilling that field as well.

    Thanks again!

    Thanks WFAdam!
Turned out that Lastpass had an extra custom field for one of many WordPress sites that I logged into. Sorted!
