• 2 WordPress websites, 2 updates. The first one works fine. The second one seemed to crash the whole site!

Trying to load /wp-admin results in:

    Error establishing a database connection

Trying to load root index results in:

HTTP – 500 Internal Server Error
The page you are attempting to load returned an error.

Everything worked fine prior to me clicking on “Upgrade to 2.9.2” !

    Any ideas?

By the way i am using “fantastico” to upgrade if anyone knows what that is… through cpanelx

I have the same problem that happened last night and my webhosting site bluehost just directly told me to contact www.remarpro.com. They said they don’t support wordpress.

I have 3 years worth of blogging files in there but my sire crashed when I upgraded from 2.6.2 to 2.9.2. It worked fine with my other blogs but not with this one. I did upgraded it but it removed everything on my site.

I am also using fantastico and directly to scripthtml.

I hope somebody from here can help me to put my blog back together, i don’t have to upgrade i just want to recover my files. ??

Please, please, please………. I need help.

You should check your wp-config.php file to make sure that your db details are correct.
HTTP – 500 Internal Server Error is likely to be caused by .htaccess. Try backing up that file and temporarily deleting it from the server.

And mrloo, I don’t hink you lost your blog posts, you should still have access to the database from your cpanel, and be able to recover them from there.

thanks gworks. Right now wordpress is not installed. What would you suggest to do first? Install the wordpress on that site and what is next? I’m sorry but I only how to use fantastico and to blog but not into those php things.

    How to backup the .htaccess?

can you tell me on how to access the database from cpanel and recover the files from there? I am hosted by bluehost by the way.

Can you please guide me through it? I really appreciate it.

    Thank you gworks

@mrloo: There are a lot of possibilities with something like this which may be affecting it. If you’d like, I can take a look at it for you and see if I can help you get it resolved. You can contact me via the email on the About page here: https://wordpress.shadowlantern.com
