All comments are spam

  • Hi,

    I lately switched to WP 1.5 Strayhorn.

    However, I am now experiencing a problem with my comments. They are all marked spam and put away so I can’t see them. No comments are in moderation loop, not even the ones that I post myself. I am using the paged editing comments plugin to be able to view all the comments that have been marked spam, so I can pull those back that are not spam. But that’s really annoying and tedious.

    I went through all the obvious settings under Options->Discussion but none of these seem to make a difference.

    Any ideas?

  • Are you using any spam plugins? Do you have anything in the moderation words box? Make sure there are no stray carriage returns.

    Thanks for your help, oriecat and macmanx. I found that my spamlist contained some punctuation marks I had not been aware of. I removed them and hope that will solve the problem. I am not using any spam plugin or so.

    Okay, me again. I modified my spamlist and still, all my comments, no matter if they are coming from me or someone else, are put away as spam. They are NOT visible in the moderation loop, and I have to pull them back with the paged comment editing plugin.

    Any more suggestions? Is there another way to configure what is spam and what not, apart from the spamlist under Options->Discussion?

    this is what worked for me – ALL emails were getting marked as SPAM, and I am running zero anti-spam s/w for the blog. I found that on the page in admin where the spamlist is, there is a little tick-box at the bottom that says to blacklist all from open sites. i removed the check mark, and viola – comments are posting….. now to find a good spam deterrent….good luck, AJ
