• I thought this might be helpful to anyone trying to post by email.

I set up an account and followed all the instructions, but no email ever showed up at mydomain/wp-mail.php. I had set up the account in Outlook to make sure it was working and email would arrive as expected.

However, I realized I had made one stupid mistake. When the email was downloaded to Outlook, it was deleted from the server, so there was no email to go to my blog. I’m sure this is true for other email clients and the settings might be different, but if you are using Outlook and have added your blog email account…do this:

    Tools>Email Accounts
Choose the account and click Change
    Click More Settings…
On the Advanced tab enable the checkbox by Leave a copy of messages on the server.
Set the number of days to anything you are comfortable with and click
    OK>Next>Finish

This was a simple thing and I feel stupid for not catching it earlier. I hope this helps someone else save some time. Right now I have a headache from beating my head against the wall.

  • Oh – nice catch! Duly bookmarked so I can refer other people to this.

Thanks for the reply, but that is not my issue. The emailed post is still in the INBOX on the server, but has not posted to the blog.

Thanks esmi… but I already considered that and made sure that my email app does not remove the mail from the server. Also… immediately following my email app configuration I received 6 emails that I had sent to my blog…. ??

I am also having the same issue… any other ideas or suggestions?
