• Hi,

I’m using 2.7-beta2-9665. When trying to delete inactive plugins WordPress asks for my FTP connection information. But even though I enter the correct information it tells me that there was an error connecting to the server. The settings are 100% correct, copied them straight from my ftp program.

How can I see where the problem is? The vague error message isn’t really helpful.

    Thanks, Vanilla74

  • Who is your host? Does the WordPress Update work for you?

Host is funpic.de. WordPress Update doesn’t work, too (giving me a error warning in update.core.php).
    It worked with v2.6.3, though.

Error is still there using a fresh install (build 9705) with a clean database.

When trying to delete inactive plugins WordPress asks for my FTP connection information.

I missed the fact you said you were deleting a plugin. Are you able to install new plugins and does it ask for the FTP information when doing that?

I can only install plugins by manually uploading them with my ftp programm. When using the intergrated zip-uploader wordpress asks again for the ftp information and the same error occurs.
The automatic install feature doesn’t work either because when searching for a term or going to “featured”, “poplular” or “newest” I only get the message “an unknown error occured”.

So I can neither install nor delete plugins from within wordpress. ??

Okay, I think the problem is with the hoster (funpic.de), because I tested the new beta3 with another hoster and everything is working as it should. On “Plugins – Add new” I see the popular tags for the first time, as this space was empty with the other installation.

The other hoster, funpic.de, is known to have problems with akismet as well. Something with external connections or so. Maybe this is connected.

I’m getting the error, “An unknown error occurred”.

It happens when I go to “Install New Plugins”. This is an old blog that I just upgraded from WP 2.6 to WP 2.7.

The weird thing: It works on another WP 2.7 blog on the same server. That’s how I know what it should look like (the list of plugins, with the yellow stars, and the lightbox-style pop up for each plugin’s description).

I’m going to test a third-blog on same server later tonite.

Can anyone give me a clue where to look, how to diagnose this problem?

It’s not asking me for FTP settings.

My problem seems to have gone away by waiting. Maybe my server or database was somehow freaking out yesterday.

Hi, I’m new to the game of wp what connection information is required to the plugins my username or password is not working, any help available out there.

    thanks
