This message appears on my dashboard:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class snoopy in /home/bobcda1/public_html/wp-includes/class-snoopy.php on line 47

I have no idea what that means other than “Fatal error”. That much is clear. I can’t publish anything or upgrade any plugins. Sorry I upgraded to 2.6. Very frustrating for a complete dummy. Any help would be appreciated. I’m completely stuck. Please respond, if you can, in plain English. I don’t understand geek speak at all. Thank you.

  • I get the same error on my Dashboard screen, under “Incoming Links”.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class snoopy in /home/roadkil1/public_html/blog/wp-includes/class-snoopy.php on line 47

As well, since the upgrade, my Dashboard is borked. It is now missing Incoming Links, the WP Development Blog, and my stats.

I should have waited until 2.6.1 to upgrade. Not impressed with this… Though, to be fair, up to this point WordPress has otherwise been stellar. Hoping this is a glitch that can be quickly fixed.

Well, at least, I’m not hanging out there alone. I upgraded a couple of other sites without incident. Can you publish posts?

I get the same error. I can publish posts, but automatic upgrade plugin gives same error. I tried uploaded an earlier version on the snoopy include, to no avail.
I also am wishing that I had waited a bit before upgrading, but agree that WP has been relatively good to me so far.

Yeah, I used the Automatic Upgrade plugin. Still can’t publish posts.

Well, I’m now able to publish posts after uploading the latest Google XML Sitemap plugin. The older version was the culprit there. Still, this bug needs to be addressed.

That crummy message appears on my site at the bottom of my sidebar. Any ideas on how to fix this? Anyone?

Is there some place you can put in a ticket?

    I get that error too.

    I just Googled & found https://snarkybytes.com/?p=614

    hopefully this helps you!

@ potentmix: I deactivated the Automatic Upgrade plugin and all seems to be back to normal. Give that a shot and let us know if it solves your problems.

That did it! Snoopy’s a contented dog now. Thanks for the find.

I also have run into this same problem after attempting to upgrade to 2.6. Tried to do it through WPAU, but it actually screwed up my ENTIRE website! I was able to restore to old and get all function back except for the snoopy error in my Incoming Links window.

SO….what does one do now….can’t upgrade easily to 2.6 without WPAU?

I deactivated the Automatic Upgrade plugin as roadkilltoad suggested and the error message is now gone. THX RKT

Yep, deactivating the plugin worked. I also just downloaded the update for Automatic Upgrade and applied it, and no error message, so maybe the update actually fixed it!

I have gotten the same error and i cant fix it.

If you look at the link I cant even gain access to the site and admin so i cant make any changes. does anyone know where or how i can change what i need to so i can get the site back up?

I had the same problem and I just solved it by deleting the google seo positioner.

    I hope that helps…
