• Hi there

I am new to WP, and been working on a site for our musical group. I have been trying to set the navigation link order on the site but every time I add another link the added link becomes first in the navbar. Is there a way I can set the navigation links so that they follow a set order, e.g. Home, About Us, etc.

    Cheers
    Andy

  • hi

yes. There is a concept called “Page Order”. The default page order assigned a page is zero. It sorts by page order # by published date/time which is why the newest page is always first.

Go to the page edit page. When you point at a page name some menu options appear beneath it. You are looking for QuickEdit. When you click Quick Edit on a page, a window opens up and you will see the page order. Change it. I tend to use 5 – 10 – 15 – 20 instead of 1- 2- 3- 4 so when I add a new page I don’t have to renumber all the existing pages.
You can also set a page order on a new page you are creating right on that page’s edit screen page.

If you have a lot of pages you can install a plugin that lets you drag and drop them into the right order without needing to fool with changing page #’s one by one.
