And that’s just the start. I manage 100’s of WordPress sites and right now there seems to be a brute force attack on the a number of servers that host my sites.

Client emails are streaming in wondering what all the emails are about and is there site safe.

I tell them that the plugin was updated with emails checked to be sent for unauthorized login attempts. And not to worry their site is safe and that I will be one by one logging into 100’s of sites today to disable email notices.

Just thought you might want to know.

  • I think this email function should be turned off by default on upgrade, or limited to X number per day/hour. I woke up to 100’s of failed login emails.

I agree. Automatic enabling of email alerts on 50 sites is a real pain for me as I now need to log in to 50 dashboards and turn this unwanted feature off.

Oh shoot, sorry about that. We wanted to turn it on for new installs, but we forgot about the upgrades.

We will get it fixed asap.

    thanks,

That would be very much appreciated, thanks.

We added a default restriction of 5 emails per hour. New updates will have it disabled by default too.

The update isn’t going to change the email settings that are currently selected is it? (Please say no)

Great – thanks for the fast response!

The update will not affect the plugin settings configured so far, by default we will send a maximum of five (5) email notifications per hour, and you can change this value in the settings page. Also, we added a new option to configure a custom email address to receive the notifications.
