If a site has 25,000 posts is Relevanssi usable or should I look at something else? Database space isn’t a major concern, but how much would CPU usage spike? (I have 4 cores). I don’t run a frontend search form on the site now because the standard WordPress search is unusable and brings down the site with a database connection failure.

Relevanssi Light is exactly the tool for you, unless there’s specifically something only Relevanssi can do that you need. Relevanssi Light is very light, as all the work is handled by your database server, and it should be really fast even with something as large (and if you do give it a go, please report how well it works).

Relevanssi may be fine as well; CPU generally isn’t a huge issue, memory is often a bigger problem. With throttling, Relevanssi only ever handles at most couple of thousand posts at once, so it doesn’t matter that much if your site has 25,000 or 2,500 posts.

Thank you Mikko!Relevanssi Light is exactly what I needed to get a functional search working again. For the moment I have search tucked away at the bottom of the right sidebar here, https://www.frontstretch.com and it looks like it’s working just fine.

Very good, your site is pretty much spot on why I created the Light version in the first place.
