2.5 Visual Preview Editor Not Working

  • Hey Guys,

    OK i recently upgraded to wordpress 2.5 and everything seems to be in order, apart from one important area in the admin. The visual editor isnt working correctly.

    You will notice none of the styling buttons or toolbar is there. Also the visual tab is selected, however it is actually showing the HTML content, and the text is the same colour as the background, as you can see, the text is there as displayed by me highlighting it in the box.

    I initially thought this maybe a glitch, so i decided to install a fresh version of wordpress with 2.5 and the problem didnt exist. all was fine.

    I decided to export the content from my blog, and import it into the fresh copy of wordpress. The problem re-appeared, so whatever is causing this problem, must be to do with my database some how.

    Id really love to use the new admin, but with this error, its impossible. can anybody help with what might be causing this please?

    Same problem as well. I’ve tried re-uploading the 2.5 files, clearing the browser caches (testing in both I.E. and FireFox), disabling plugins, hard refreshes.

    p.s. and my tickbox for using the visual editor on my profile is checked as well.

    No-one with any good solutions? I have exactly the same problem. I have tried everything in all different threads, but nothing seem to work. I guess it is server – related, because it works well with my local version (using wampserver 2.0.) but had the same problem on the earlier edition of wamp (1.7).

    Hope that someone can solve this. I’m PRETTY sure its NOT a CACHE problem.Maybe its Apache-related, or mysql-related? just asking…

    Same problem here.. I found this post searching for a soultion…

    found problem for mine.. first try to load (yousite)/wp-includes/js/tinymce/tiny_mce_config.php
    if you do not see text only funny pictures then the problem in the server php conpression, to fix this edit this tiny_mce_conig.php and change 'compress' => true to 'compress' => false

    now reload (yousite)/wp-includes/js/tinymce/tiny_mce_config.php
    you should see all the tinyMCE config settings if yes then proble solved.

    My problem was after copying wpress site to local wamp server “visual tab is selected, however it is actually showing the HTML content”.
    My fix was to set the language value in wp-config.php
    Took me forever to catch that… I did every other thing I found on this forum before that one !
    Worked fine online hosted without that set, but not locally.
