• Hi,
I just updated to 2.5 and everything went smoothly. The only thing I found a little strange is when I went to /wp-admin/edit-tags.php I noticed that my blog had many, many blank tags in the database click for screenshot. I think that it is safe to delete these, but wanted to check with someone more knowledgeable to see if they are being used or are a result from my “posting style”….

When I write a post, I will fill in the title and body then I will press “save an continue editing” thus assigning an ID to the post, but not a slug. I will then upload images and fill in tags pressing “save an continue editing” along the way. When I am happy with the post, I will publish it. I believe that the slug is created when the post is published.

Could this process of inserting posts be the cause of the blank tags and is it ok to delete the blank tags???

    Thanks for your help,
    -Mike

  • I would like to know as well, because I’m having the same issue.

same problem here. wp-admin/edit-tags.php?pagenum=1 on to page 5 are blank, and an extra blank page after the pages that do have the tag list on them.

Anyone figure out an SQL statement that can be used to clear blank tags? I have about 20 pages of them and really don’t feel like deleting them page by page ??
