Dang, I luv this place. Searching always gets me to a bingo! I’ve been quietly testing a b2evolution-to-wordpress installation, in a /test/ directory. Came here to figure out how to move WP to root. Ain’t e-life wunnerful?! ??

I’m trying to do this as well… I know I need to change the database but tamba2.org.uk is down. Are the instructions available anywhere else?

If you didn’t do anything yet…
1. Go to admin panel > Options > General
2. Change the two URI adresses
3. Do not open your blog in a browser – yet
4. Open your FTP client (or other sie admin tool) and move the WP files
5. Now you can open and admire your blog

If you missed 1. and 2. you need to go into the DB as per Podz’s instructions.

What I’m trying to do is swap two blogs into each others directories (because I am a muppet and only just noticed I did it the wrong way round). I moved and deleted files beforehand so had to go into phpMyAdmin and change the URI.

I’ve got the correct blog working in example.mydomain.com following the instructions so thanks for that.

I’ve done the same thing for example.mydomain.com/folder/, and the blog is there ok but it thinks the wp-admin is the one for example.mydomain.com and just forwards me to that.

Any ideas?

Did you change two URL values in that database or only one? You should have changed both the ‘siteurl’ and ‘home’ values. See: https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/

I only changed ‘siteurl’, I didn’t notice ‘home’ so I assumed it was for an earlier version. Will go and do it now

https://pro.kartlink.com/events/ is in the right place, but https://pro.kartlink.com/events/wp-admin/ goes to https://pro.kartlink.com/wp-admin/ (which is where this blog was before I started all this)

Actually, (for me) https://pro.kartlink.com/events/wp-admin/ goes to https://pro.kartlink.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fevents%2Fwp-admin%2F which does maintain the correct the redirect value. IOW, logging in through that login form should send you back to https://pro.kartlink.com/events/wp-admin/ . So, from what I can tell, as long as that login form is around, just use it.

Basically, what I’m saying is that I have no clue how to fix your problem, but I think should work regardless. Have you tried clearing your browser’s cookies?

Turns out I edited the wrong database table in phpMyAdmin!

Note to self: delete tables as well as blogs when finished with them (several blogs on one DB)
