    Hello Derek,

I have 2 problems and would like your advice.

    1. The OptionTree currently on the site (which I just took over development on) is not letting me add any new items. I would like to add box on the front for page excerpt with featured image. If not, I have found a work-around that will do for now.

    2. I cannot find where OptionTree is installed, it’s not in the plug-ins directory on the server and not in the plug-ins list. I’m using 2.4.2 with WP 4.0 and Benevolence theme. I’d like to upgrade to the latest version 2.4.6. How should I do this?

Thank you so much and Happy Thanksgiving.

    ~Kira

The plugin is being used in Theme Mode so you need to upgrade via FTP on your server by going to wp-content/themes/benevolence/option-tree and replace the option tree directory with the latest version. As well, the reason you cannot add new options is likely because there is a PHP file that is manually creating the options in your theme which you will need to edit. It’s most likely named theme-options.php.

    Cheers,

Yeah, I upgraded into the theme subdir for OptionTree and it didn’t take much time to find where he’s set the options in a file, but it’s buggy and I need to make my own options. He keeps lying to me saying it’s a conflict with another plug-in, so that’s why I’m coming here to get help as there is zero support with him.

What is the plugin he’s saying there is a conflict with? Also, why is his file buggy, can you elaborate?

Well, the Ministries don’t have categories and they don’t show up in the taxonomy, for starters. I wanted to set different widgets for different Ministries with Jetpack, but as they flat-out don’t show up, I had to use css. As for the plug-ins, he told me to disable them one by one and see which one is having the conflict, which is 0 because there was no conflict; it merely wasn’t pulling settings from the database because that’s how he coded it.

How am I supposed to put all the work I’ve done into a child theme?

Even the very first file /theme/inc/theme-options.php

    doesn’t work.

I’ve got it working pretty well now. Just thought WP would pull any file I upload into the child theme folder, but if it’s included as theme directory instead of stylesheet directory then it pulls the parent, but if I change all to stylehseet directory, then it fails if the file isn’t there. Shouldn’t it look at every file to see if it’s in the child theme also, and then use/addend that code as well?
