2014 Major Issues

Hi! I have literally spent 13 hours trying to get 2014 to work. Admittedly I am no computer programmer or web designer but this shouldn’t be this difficult. I want my site to look like the template but instead it has a huge white box that I cannot change the color too. Is there anyone that can help? I seen other websites and it’s worked for them, so I know for a fact its a user error (me). I searched google, and these forums and couldn’t find an answer so I come to you begging.
