For the last several days, I have had extreme trouble using my admin site. Bluehost has updated my PHP, I have deleted some plugins. I cleaned the database.
I am getting Gateway 504 errors, mostly when I try to leave the dashboard of my admin panel and go to plugins, for example. When I have been able to go to work on plugins like WPTouch Pro, my mobile website provider, after working for maybe 10 minutes, I then can’t go anywhere else on my admin site. I get the 504 error. Right now, I can’t get out of my dashboard because my site stats have been trying to load for at least five minutes.
Bluehost said the theme could be the problem. What do I do to fix this problem? I can’t work on my website unless I can get out of my dashboard on my admin site.

  • There’s nothing in the theme that should cause a performance issue. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default 2016 theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.
