• I set up WP with a hosting provider and had the 2012 theme.
I recently changed hosting providers and when they reinstalled WP for me and I logged into my site, it defaulted to the 2013 theme. I would like to use the 2012 theme. (There wasn’t much there so the reinstall didn’t hurt anything)
I did go into themes and chose the “activate” option and my site is now set to 2012. Do I have to do anything else so that this change is permanent, like FTP my WP files again?
    Thank you for your help.

  • If you find OK with your change of theme, it’s fine. You don’t need to do anything else. If you want to modify/ customize your theme permanently, create a child theme and then modify it so that the changes will be permanent even after updating your theme from time to time.

Thank you for your quick answer!
I won’t be modifying or customizing the code for the theme , I just want to use it as is.
So will my theme stay as 2012 even if WordPress does additional updates? I think the answer is yes to that, just making sure.

Yes, the theme will be 2012 even if WordPress updates the theme.
