• Hi,

    I’ve done my research, but apparently I’m not web savvy enough to understand all the terms and instructions and codes I’ve read through. Here’s the issue:

    I have an existing wordpress site hosted through my 1 and 1 server. I want to create a wordpress site for my husband through the same server, but at a completely different domain. I would like my husband to be able to update and edit his site from his own computer once I have it up and running. How do I do this?

    I figured I’d follow the Multiple Blogs Through Multiple Installs directions, but I’m not sure whether my husband will then have access to the admin. Does he also need to install wordpress on his computer? Any insight you can give me in relatively plain english would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks so much.

  • 1. Create a new folder
    2. Install WP in it (the same way you did with the first one – maybe with CPanel);
    3. Buy your husband’s new domain;
    4. In CPanel, add this new domain to your server (addon domain – some hosts will charge you for that, others won’t);
    5. Assign your server’s DNS to your domain (ask whoever sold you the domain to do this);
    6. Access your husband’s wp panel through https://newdomain.com/wp-admin.

    Complementing step 4:
    When assigning the addon domain, point it to the newly created folder.

    Terrific, I’ll do this.

    My other question is whether my husband will have access to the admin on his computer if I set everything up from mine. I essentially want to hand the site over to him once it’s created so that he can do all upkeep — but I need to create it on my computer.

    Yes. Everything will be on the server, so he can access it from any place using the domain address.

    Terrific. Thanks so much Renato, I guess I’ll get started!
