• Hello,

I set the ‘AND’ condition, the weight is the default (so the weight for the title is 5), partial words keyword matching, give a boost to exact matches, some custom field set for _sku, expand shortcodes… disabled, etc.

I have some issues when I search for 2 or more terms. For example, there are some product titles that include ‘uv light’ but the result shows products with many ‘light’ included first.

I know many search plugins give high priority to the titles with many occurrences of search terms, but I want to show the titles with both words ‘uv’ and ‘light’ first. How can I set the options to get the result?

Also, I would like to show sale items first if there are any on the search result and some categories the lower priority to not showing first.

I also wonder if there’s any setup that I can change to improve the speed.

Can you help me with my issues?

    Thank you!

Relevanssi has a default minimum word length of two, so “uv light” is practically the same as “light”. In Indexing > Advanced indexing settings, set the minimum word length to 2 and rebuild the index.

How can Relevanssi tell which items are on sale? Here’s how you can adjust the weight from categories.

What kind of search speeds are we talking about here now? How long do the searches take, and what kind of speeds you expect?

Thank you for your quick answer.

As you recommended I rebuilt the index after setting the minimum length to 2 and giving 500 to the title weight.
‘uv light’ searching seems improved much, but the other 2 term searches still show a lot of other inaccurate results.

For example, if you search ‘electric keyboard’, you get only 16 results, when I can see 206 items under the Dashboard > Products. When I search the same terms at the Dashboard > Admin search there were 20 items showing, which also is different from the actual search. The search result still shows some unrelated stuff in the middle, too.

About the speed that I mentioned before, it took 7 & 1/2 seconds to show the 16 results when I search the term ‘electric keyboard’.
My site has quite a lot of products (55,000 published products), and I understand it might take more with too many products, but still, I believe there should be some ways to improve the speed.

I think one thing that can help make the result show earlier is to remove the step to show the preview of the list or the auto-complete feature showing when I’m typing in the search term. The link below has an image for that.

I’m not sure if the feature is done by your plugin, but if it is showing by your plugin, is there any way that I can remove the preview? I believe we don’t need it now, and it helps to show the results faster.
If there are any other options that I can change for better speed, let me know.

    Thank you!

That live search is not from Relevanssi; the Relevanssi Live Ajax Search is a separate plugin. It’s from your theme, so you need to ask your theme support for how to remove it. It’s quite possible the live search is not showing Relevanssi results.

Is the throttle enabled in the Relevanssi searching settings? Also, if your search results page doesn’t show an excerpt, ensure Relevanssi isn’t creating one.

For your other questions, I can’t really say much about them without seeing the site. I’d just be guessing, and it would be a waste of time for both of us.

    Hello,

The Throttle is enabled and the excerpt snippet is not created.

Also, I found the setting to turn off the live search feature but still takes a while to see the results. (F.Y.I. my theme is Electro)

The main focus here is the search results shown.
Relevanssi shows better performance compared to other search plugins, but still shows a mixture of irrelevant and relevant results. With this great and quick support from you, I would like to keep using this product if the main issue is resolved.

What could be the problem when the result shows only parts of the products containing search terms? and what other options do I need to consider setting to show better and relevant search results? Will the pro version solve any of these issues?

Can you give me some concrete examples? I can’t tell from your description what the problem is; it could be anything. What does “result shows only parts of the products containing search terms” mean in practice?

The two key features to control the results are the operator (AND or OR) and the keyword matching (whole words or partial words; don’t use the third option, it’s just confusing). Which ones to choose depend on your needs.
