• Hi,

I own blog1.com which has the main sql database.

I want blog2.com to connect to blog1 sql database and be the same except there will be two options table on the database.

    wp_options and blog2_options

That way the website url are different.

    How would I do this?

Are there any plugins for this?

  • It is possible but hard to explain in a single comment, so I will suggest you to check the WordPress Multi-site project, that will allow you to create a network using the same WordPress installation.

If what you really want is to share all the posts, comments, pages, themes, plugins, etc in the two sites, then you’ll need to get your hands dirty modifying the code of WordPress itself, or as you say, find a plugin to do that, unfortunately I don’t know one to recommend you.

Well my site blog1 has already a lot of people. I get around 300K pageviews a day.

I want blog2 which I started new to be able to access the database blog1 uses.

I already looked at that and it wasn’t much helpful.

Well, as I said, it is possible to do what you are asking but it is a little hard to explain how to do it properly without the risk to break something in the original site (aka. blog1). Maybe you can find an idea checking this thread [1] which seems to be related with yours; also this seems to be very helpful [2].

[1] Multiple Sites, Same Database, Different Options Table.
[2] Share users database on different WordPress installs.
