2 Product Attributes – but only one visible on product page

On the product data section, under the Attribute tab, you can select if the attribute is shown on the product page and if it is used for variations:

I am not sure I understand the use case here. If there is an attribute to be added as a variation option, why is it not an option to be selected?

We are selling shoes. And one attribute is the size. The second is the length in cm. I want the customers to filter their length with the help of a bar. And when they click on the product which has their cm size I want them to select the shoe size only. Not again the cm.

Hopefully this makes it more clear ??

It will allow you to create a product filter by attribute:
