2 problems – images & pages links

  • Hi WP Support,
    I hope you can help me as I already tried all known to my knowledge. I`m using a theme I change according to my needs and have still 2 big problems:
    1, pageslinks: I created on home additional pages (besides Home), like preferences etc. The link is always like: blog.mypage.sk/preferences. I need it to be like: mypage.sk/preferences. I changed permalinks to pretty permalinks too, but this did make no change. I tried 2 PCs with IE, Chrome and Firefox, cant change anywhere. Please, advise where to change the link to what I need and how, which php file etc. Thanks.

    2, images: loading of pictures into the multimedia library. I tried .jpg, jpeg, but nothing works. Heres the situation. I tried 2 systems, IE, Firefox and Chrome and tried the new drag & drop system, get an error on Access denied when trying to open stream to file.php and some error on line 348. The file is rws-rws-rw,still error. When I use the standard one, it loads the picture, but dont show the actual picture, I cant edit, crop it or anything else, size is 0x0. The uploads folder is not existing, so I created one, but this picture is not there. When I manually copy them through ftp to this folder, I dont see them in multimedia library.
    I can use pictures from web links, but this is not the right way.

    Please assist me.

    Okay, first off, what’s your site’s actual URL?

    Second off, check your setting in the admin panel for problem (1). ie Settings tab, then General settings (/wp-admin/options-general.php) Make sure your WordPress Address is mypage.sk, along with your Site Address.

    For issue #2, I believe it’s related to issue #1, so fix that first, then get back to me.

    So i have to change the current WordPress and site URL, which is the above to dovolenkadoraja.sk only, right?

    Is that correct?

    omg, I changed it as you suggested and now I can`t get back into the WordPress layout and change it back, cause my page got messed up with original page..can u tell me where to change it back please?

    Firstly I didn’t suggest you to change it, I only wanted to know if it was right… by “right” I meant was it actually looking in the correct directory for your blog’s url?

    To change it back you’ll need to go into the database with phpmyadmin. It’s in the options table I believe.

    To get what you want done, you’ll have to move the blog from the subdomain “blog” to the main domain’s directory, usually public_html or www. You can just do this instead of doing the database thing.

    ok, besides I changed..ok, let us take that back where it was first
    how do I change that from the WP control panel what I made back to the original, cause:
    Previous: blog.mypage.sk
    Current: mypage.sk only
    I have still the option to register below, but when I want to log in and change back, I get this error 404 message: he requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.

    When I log to my domain I see tmp and www_route, in route I have mypage.sk copied all in and there I have one folder with blog and all WP data in it

    What is the directory structure of www_route

    Okay backup your /blog directory first, then move everything from /blog to www_route, and I mean everything, even your .htaccess file. That will put your website in the root directory and you should be able to access it simply by typing in the URL minus the “blog” subdirectory.

    Just so I get it right.
    before the url for blog was: blog.dovolenkadoraja.sk
    my normal webpage link was: https://www.dovolenkadoraja.sk

    I want to keep it that way, I like it. but then the question is, if I still be able to click from those blog pages to normal links. you know what I mean?
    Cause I created several pages on blog.dovolenkadoraja.sk, but those links all went to blog.dovolenkadoraja.sk/….. and I wanted to link them to same pages as on my webpage: https://www.dovolenkadoraja.sk
    example: one of pages on blog was “referencie”
    link possible from blog: blog.dovolenkadoraja.sk/referencie
    desired link would be: https://www.dovolenkadoraja.sk/referencie

    so, should I still link copy it like you suggested?

    Okay now I’m confused haha. So you are running a regular website in the root directory, and a blog in the blog directory?

    You have created “pages” in the blog that should link to the main site, one level above the blogs directory? Am I hearing er… reading it right?

    Sorry, for the confusion, I was able to change several things, reading posts, support and so on..but these two not, so my knowledge of code is very low (therefore you probably confused ?? ), but I need only these 2 last things get done and can work on content.

    yes, cause I dont need pages on blog to have additional pages and content, I have categories, thats enough for me..and therefore I want change WP given links from linked currently to blog, to main web page

    Well the answer you need is a custom menu, that would allow you to manually override page links, provided your theme will allow you to use a menu in that position of course.

    when I click on the webpage (normally displayed – not now, deleted whole blog and copying files again) I see clearly all links and so on, but I cant find the damn menu or php file, where I could override those links..thats the most critical part of what I need to change..
    the theme I`m using is: summer_beach_lounge_pair_lae053

    can you help me with this one? if not the image thing, I can live with that, but this one need to be changed..
