Both websites are not displaying and are giving me this error:

Connie C Wilson was working just fine last night, and I did nothing with wordfence yesterday.

Xmas Cats hasn’t used wordfence in over a year so I don’t know why it’s showing wordfence errors.

  • Hi @allilev!

Sorry to hear you are having problems with Wordfence. These error messages indicate that a specific file may have gone missing. Can you log in to your site via FTP/SSH or any file browser your web host may be providing via their control panel and see if there is a file called “init.php” in this folder: “wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/”?

Renaming the wordfence directory located in wp-contet/plugins to something like “wordfence_old” and reinstalling Wordfence from the WordPress “Plugins” page should hopefully fix it.

Actually these 2 sites are in subfolders, but there is a 3rd site in the root. When I removed wordfence from the site in root it fixed both of these sites. I didn’t realize they could affect each other like that, but it is fixed now.

    Hi @allilev,
Okay that’s good to hear. It sounds like the Firewall for the root site was loading on the two subsites. When the Firewall is optimized, it loads on all .php files that are located in and below the directory where it’s installed.
