    Hi Jordy,

Ok, so in the Settings > WP Retina 2x > disabled sizes I disable image sizes that I am not going to use. Among different sizes listed here are also full width sizes supported by my theme (1500×600). I am only using 2 full width images and have many more normal (not full width images on the site).

My understanding is that if I do not disable the full width your plug-in is going to ask me to upload full-width@2x images for all images on the site.

Shouldn’t I then disable the full width option and for those 2 odd full width images, upload retina 3000×1200 manually?

    many thanks for your help,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

The question is, do you use those media sizes on your website? Whatever the name is (Big Image, or Full-Width, etc…) they are still images created base on the original image you provide at first. So yes, if those big media sizes are not disabled in the Retina settings, you will be asked to have an original image that is twice bigger than the largest media size.

By the way, you understand the plugin, right? You don’t need to upload a @2x suffixed file, those are created by the plugin automatically. You just need to upload an image that is big enough at first.

So i understand that there is no real difference between retina plugin creating these images or me manually?

I just thought that since I haeve only one image that large I would like to disable this size in the plugin setting so that that large images are not created for all other smaller images.
And when I disable it then the @2x for the full-width img will not be created and therefore I will have to load it manually.

To sum up. If I disable the large size in the plugin settings I will then have to create the retina image for it manually.

    Is this correct?
