• I have been using Wp-members plugin for a little over 5 months now and have had it working with no issues up until approx the last month.

    Issue 1:
Wp-members is failing to block any pages i have selected as blocked. The plugin understands the page should be blocked as it displays the content first and then at the bottom displays the necessary message that the page is blocked.

An example can be seen here.

    Issue 2:
WP-members seem to be caching the sidebar widget. For example, a user will log in and it displays they are logged in on the homepage (using an example) but when the user navigates to a post or another page the sidebar shows they are not logged in. If they click forgot password or register it shows they are already logged in and takes them to the ‘change password’ page.

I am NOT using any caching programs, and although i am a few upgrades behind i do not believe this is related looking at similar posts raised by people with the newest upgrade.

  • I am having the same problem. The plugin seems to be working, but it fails to block anything. I have tried both blocking posts and pages – same thing, nothing is blocked for the unregistered visitor.

@jld142 – These aren’t bugs but are probably configuration issues. If everything was working fine until last month, I would take a look at what you have possibly changed since then.

Issue 1 – the plugin’s default is to block posts or pages. In its default configuration it does not handle custom post types or anything built with “builder” plugins (although it can be customized to handle either of these). Also, if you use certain shortcodes on the page, those may need to be taken into account and handled differently.

Issue 2 – WP-Members doesn’t cache anything. It uses the WP authentication process, which uses cookies for maintaining login state. It uses the WP function is_user_logged_in() to determine if a user is logged in or not. So if users are logging in and not being recognized as such, the issue is probably outside of the plugin.

@inventorgeorge – see the response to Issue 1 above.

Chad, I disagree Here. Plugin has been working fine for months, I have not added additional plugins since, nor done any updates.

@inventorgeorge have you managed to resolve this ?

What plugins are you running? Be interesting to compare.
