• Issue 1 (Major)

After updating the plugin, the login url (hide login area option) became dead (ineffective.) It wouldn’t just open. Even the default login url (/wp-admin) wouldn’t work. I had to delete and re-install the plugin. (This will be an issue for anyone updating the plugin from the older Better WP Security.)

    Issue 2 (Minor, but funny!)

The login page displays the WP login box and below it is my website with a 404 Error. Really? Is it a bug? I’m not sure. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

  • I too can’t login through the url I had set. It’s definitely a bug.

    Hey,

Most existing settings from Better WP Security transferred to iThemes Security except for the Hide Backend Setting. You’ll need to reset your Hide Backend Setting due to a new implementation of the feature. In addition, you’ll still want to review your settings after the update as there are new options you will be able to use.

    Thanks,

I did review the new settings. They are definitely better than before. But what about the login page acting weird?

switching to some other security plugin. they have messed up the plugin with this new update.

is there a way to switch back to the older plugin?

I definitely agree. I’m thinking the same. Not sure which plugin to install. Will have to research a bit …and will blog about it too.

    Yes, there are many ways.

Way 1 – You have an old backup of this plugin (like maybe a cron job where your website is hosted)
Way 2 – Ask someone who has not upgraded to the newer version to zip it and email it to you.
Way 3 – Ask iThemes to email it to you.

Go here – He might be able to help.

    thanks. i’ll ask him.

ps – do let us know when you blog about a better security plugin.

@natalie try All In One WP Security & Firewall it do the same things as this one but with more features and stable …
