• Hi All
I want to set up a wordpress site that has a news section and pages to make a cms. However I want to have two news/blog sections ie one with news and one with the same function but called something else. Is the best way to do this to have two installation of wordpress or can you have two news/blog sections on one wordpress installation?

By blog/wordpress I mean the ability to add a story and have a sidebar with latest news feed and archive.

    Thanks for your time.

  • Couldn’t you use the menu creator to make the categories part of your main menu settings, so that you can have the blog feature on both sections? That’s if you want to use the same theme. If you want to use more than one theme, look at multisite as an option.

I will look into this, someone also has mentioned doing it using category / field but I am unsure how to set this up?

If you go to Appearance > Menus you can create any combination of menus you want, categories and pages. You have to setup pages and categories first. Depending on the theme you should be able to add it as main or secondary menu. There are also widget options to use custom menus.

    Hi Again

I am not having much luck with this I want to have two blogs/news pages with all the functionality on one installations do you know if this is possible and if there is any instructions on how to do this?

I have set up different menus and templates but want to get it so you only view a certain category on a certain blog page and this has the recent stories and archive for just that category!

    Thanks
