2 independent installations – cannot access properly in subfolder

Out of curiosity, what happens when you visit domain.com/store/ (note the trailing slash)?

Just a bit of note, domain.com/store and domain.com/store/ are actually two separate URLs (though WordPress does automatic redirection between the two).

domain.com/store — points to a FILE, so that belongs to the WordPress installation at domain.com.

domain.com/store/ — points to a DIRECTORY, the “store” sub-directory in your case, so you should be able to have the second WordPress site loaded like this (without adding the index.php to the end.

yup. if I add the forward slash / it goes to the new installation.

So your two sites are working perfectly, as they should. Note that this has nothing to do with WordPress: that’s how most (all?) web servers work.

Now, you probably want to specifically setup a redirect from domain.com/shop to domain.com/shop/. You can do easily do this by adding a single rule to the .htaccess file in domain.com (has to come BEFORE the WordPress rules)

Redirect 301 /shop https://www.domain.com/shop/

(Of course, you should edit the destination address to match your actual website address, including the HTTPS and www)

And it adds two forward slashes at the end. like this https://domain.com/shop//

I commented the entire line and now I cannot even access adding /index.php

I checked under root installation if there is a page/post with slug: shop and nothing was found.
