    Hello,
I’ve already setup my Google Site Kit plugin and I can see my stats but I’m concern about the data privacy about this plugin because upon checking my website https://www.iconicmnl.com using Google Tag Assistant I can see 2 GA properties tracking my website one is the one I’m using and the other GA property UA-130569087-3 is from Google Site Kit. I was wondering if this is normal and is there any reason as to why I’m seeing 2 GA properties tracking my website?

    Thanks

  • @sysylvester thanks for your topic and inquiry!

Are you using any other plugins or ways to implement/connect Analytics on the site?

From my observation in the source code and using Tag Assistant :

    1) It looks like you may also have Analytics implemented through the Google Tag Manager tag?

If so, Site Kit currently does not detect this implementation. I see two UA properties associated with this implementation ending in:

    — 8893-1
    — 3617-1

    2) It also doesn’t look like you’re using Site Kit to insert its Analytics snippet currently?

    This UA property ends in:

    8893-1

I did not see the UA property UA-130569087-3. Could you let me know and perhaps provide a screenshot of where you saw it?

Yes I do have a GTM. But my question is GA property UA-130569087-3 is from Google Site Kit I don’t own this GA property.

My GA property is UA-122658893-1 this is the only property I own and use for my website.

I’m using Google Tag Assistant chrome extension to check what property is implemented on my site. Also if I try to remove site kit plugin GA property UA-130569087-3 will no longer appear on my website.

    Hello Renee,
I was able to resolve the issue by un checking the “Help us improve the Site Kit plugin by allowing tracking of anonymous usage stats. all data are treated in accordance with Google Privacy Policy.”.

    Thanks again!

@sysylvester thanks for the details. The Analytics connection should only detect properties for which the Google account you’re using has administrative permission. We need some more information to figure out what occurred.

Since we currently cannot see this property inserted by Site Kit either in the source code or using Google Tag Assistant, could you tell us the following:

    1) Go to Site Kit > Settings > Analytics and take a screenshot of the what you see when the issue occurs. You can provide a link to a screenshot using a service like Imgur or Jumpshare.

You can actually pick and choose the property you want to display data for in Site Kit and if you want Site Kit to insert its snippet. By default Site Kit inserts its snippet after you have configured the connection, unless it detects another method.

    2) On the Analytics website, could you confirm your Google Account does not have administrative access to the data for this property?

    3) Are there any other possible ways your site is connected to Analytics? You can also provide us your Site Health information to review.

@sysylvester I’m just now seeing your response, and thanks for the update! There does sound like to be an issue, so it would be helpful if we could get any additional info mentioned above to continue to investigate. Thanks so much for your report.

@sysylvester just circling back that the tracking code referenced UA-130569087-3 is for Site Kit’s anonymous tracking that can be opted into or out anytime from the plugin’s settings. It does not impact the Analytics service connection that you configure and is only visible while you’re logged into your website. Thanks again for raising the topic!
