    Hello,

I’m running two websites with Shield plugin. After a server migration connected to an upgrade, I don’t get an email with the authentification code on 2FA-login for one site. The mail address hasn’t changed and is properly working. Any idea what could possibly cause that?

I’m still logged in at the other site and tried to check the Shield-settings there (they are the same for both sites) to get an idea what might be wrong, but here I noticed that while I can access the Shield dashboard, I can’t access the various tabs: So for Login Guard I see thge first tab “Brute Force Login Protection” but can’t use any of the other tabs.

I’ve no idea if that is new and in any way connected to the server upgrade, because everything was working fine for at least a year, so I didn’t check the settings for at least several months. What could cause that?

    Thanks in advance,
    Max

    PS:
My host just let me know that with the new server I need to register the sender address used by the plugin to be able to receive emails from this address. What is the sender address used by Shield?

PPS: “sender address” is probably “return address” in proper English.

    Update:

I’ve now registered wordpress@mydomain as additional mail addresses in my server’s administrator interface and mails with the code are sent again. Apparently some new spam and phishing rules.

What remains is the problem that I cannot properly access Shield’s settings on one of my two websites: I access with my code, get to Shield’s dashboard with the plugin details, but when I click on other tabs like “General Options” or “Import/Export” they won’t open. When I try to access another area like “Security Admin” or “Login Guard” I’m asked to supply my code again – which is new – and can again only access the first tab.

But Shield is working fine on the other site.

Uninstall and reinstall? Or is there another solution?

    Thanks in advance.

    And yet another addition:

When i compare the behaviour of shield on my two sites I can see that the difference is that with the site in question a click on a new tab generates the following addresses instead of actually leading me to the link:

    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=icwp-wpsf-plugin#pills-section_general_plugin_options
    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=icwp-wpsf-plugin#pills-section_global_security_options
    etc.

It seems the access key is not properly accepted. Even when I can access the dashboard, I can’t disable the plugin in the plugin list, which of courset means, I can’t uninstall it in order to try a clean new install.

A bit fed up. Help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you have Javascript includes problem or an error of some sort that’s breaking the admin pages. This new host could be placing restrictions that you’re not aware of.

1-to-1 technical support for Shield Security requires a premium license – it’s how we keep this project going.

Have a look in the extensive helpdesk for loads of articles that could help:

    You could reset the plugin:

or use forceoff to get back into the settings if you’re able to load the admin

Thanks, but I can’t imagine that it has to do with restrictions placed by the new host. Both of my sites were moved to the new server yesterday and only one of them shows these problems. I’ll try with reset and hope I’ll be able to delete the plugin. maybe a clean new install will solve the problem.

Update: I found out that a gallery plugin causes the problems. It’s up-to-date, but apparently causes some sort of java problem backend. As soon as I turn it off, Shield’s interface is behaving as it should.

    Is it NextGen?

    Thread Starter floridante

    (@floridante)

No, it’s Supsystic Gallery. I’ve the pro-version-plugin installed, but the problems are apparently caused by the basic gallery. Quite annoying. Sorry for having bothered you with that.

No problem. Galleries seems to be taking liberties with WordPress sites at the moment. NextGen is guilty of completely breaking our wizards, but refuse to deal with it.

    Good times.

    Thanks for reporting back.
