    Hello,

I have a site that I have created for my client. They are looking to add the Wordfence 2fa plugin onto their WordPress Multisite. From reading information it sounds like the plugin would support a multisite. I have tried to install the free version to see if it will allow me to do everything I need to do. From what I can tell, it only identifies the roles from the parent site and not the custom roles I created from other subsites. I have about 6-8 custom roles that I have created. 4 of those roles have backend access which I need to protect. These roles are not admin, but they have editing capabilities. These roles are created on a subsite and are not seen by the plugin. Can you tell me if there is a way for the plugin to see these custom roles? Is there additional coding needed to make this available?

Thank you so much for your help.`

Hi @kdvgraphics, thank-you for reaching out to us!

In our test multisites, the parent sees its own roles but not those for each subsite. I believe this to be by design, to prevent multisites with tens or hundreds of subsites from loading all custom roles, which could become difficult to manage or produce unwanted results in terms of access.

Could you please let us know which role/user management plugin(s) you may be using on top of WordPress core? I take it your use-case would be for the parent to see all roles of its subsites? Do you also want each subsite to see roles from every other site?

I may need to speak with our development team, but having the above information first would be extremely useful.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Thank you for your response. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Ideally, we would want the parent site to see all subsite roles. Since the plugin is installed on the network and mainly affects the parent site, I would think that would be the best setup. Currently right now, we are using Custom Role Editor plugin. I created about 6 different roles, and maybe 4 or 5 would need to have the 2FA linked to them. The other roles would not have access to the backend at all.

Let me know your thoughts and what you could do. Thanks.
