We’re having this problem again where original post URLs are getting automatically modified to include a “-2” at the end when an update draft is being created. The update draft also is getting an “-2” added without “update” being added, despite the automatic prefix activated in settings and the prefix being including in the title when the duplication happens.

When we tried to delete the “-2” from the original post’s URL, it was not allowed.

When we went into the update draft and added “update-” to the beginning of the URL (as was supposed to have been done automatically), the “-2” was automatically removed from the original post URL and it was restored to normal.

Our settings for Duplicate Post have Slug unchecked as an element to copy.

  • We are also having the same issue with the -2 being added to the original post’s URL. Any updates on this issue?

    I have a similiar problem:
The cloned article gets the identical slug in the database as the original (should be unique!). This visible in the database and in the Backend > Posts List View > Quick Edit.
But in the Post-Edit interface WordPress SHOWS me an “-2” at the end of the slug, but this wont get saved as long as the clone stays a draft (not published).

On my website the Post-output will then be broken: as a logged-in admin I can see a stacked output (marked as draft): first the draft, then the original post, all in one page.
Logged out as a visitor, I get an 404 not found (because visitors cant see drafts)

I guess the plugin should allways add an extension to the cloned slug for safety reasons!

Quick Workaround: disable the cloning of the permalink in the plugins Settings, deactivate the Option “copy slug”
