• I still have the same problem that I did when 2.15.18 was introduced. The audio player is not there on the frontend individual sermon page. The meta data (date, series, preacher) is missing formatting and strung altogether in one line.

Is anyone else still having this issue?

I’m still rolled back on 2.15.15 because that’s the last version that’s worked for me.

  • Hello @stevenlma I am using 2.16.1 and I do not have that problem. On my page https://gmc-mca.org/sermons/this-is-indeed-the-christ/ (August 23rd) the link for the audio is right below the video and the meta data is fine. Maybe you have a setting out.
Can you post a link to your page?

What I have found is if the text is entered to the new block editor under the title it does not show on the sermon page, but the SEO (Yoast) finds it. You have to copy the text into the editor in the “Sermon Details” block for it to show up on the front end. The SEO plugin (Yoast) does not see the “Sermon Details” block.

I’m having the same problem, but I can’t say how long it’s been happening. I noticed it after the admin blew up with the recent update. I’ve tried digging through template files, but I can’t seem to find the template used.

    Here’s an example: https://beulahnazarene.com/sermons/sin-and-fellowship/

This sermon has both a video link and an MP3 yet neither of them show. I can search the site for the title (“sin and fellowship”) and the search result shows the audio player, but clicking through to the sermon page doesn’t show audio or video.

I’m capable of digging through the code to find the problem, but I’m not well versed in the WordPress architecture. Even a point in the right direction would be helpful.

@djsindt I downloaded your theme (free version) on our test site and I’m not seeing any problems, but I don’t use JetPack.

@djsindt : I just checked that link and it all looks fine to me; did you get it sorted out? here is what i see : https://freeimage.host/i/dbqrQ4

@irvingbos : I after being told that it worked on a test site, I simply reverted back to 2.15.15 just like @stevenlma and then disabled updates. I don’t have a lot of time for troubleshooting right now and just need it to work.

Yes, there is definitely one or more things not right with the plugin. I had the same issue as you did, and found that if I renamed the “single-wpfc_sermon.php” in the theme folder to something else, the audio and video showed in the single sermon page again. I think that template was a customized version of the page ( i inherited this site), which over-rides the default found in the plugin’s Views folder.

I still see issues with the back end edit page; it shows default WP edit boxes along with the SM-specific ones, and the date editor field does not drop down.

hope that helps, and hope the authors fix this thing.

Since we have short sermons published daily and people who regular visit and rely on those audio files, I’m keeping it reverted at 2.15.15. I’ll try to set up a staging site soon to show it not working on later versions. Thanks @irvingbos – I’ll try renaming the file and see if that helps. So that file can be renamed to anything? It’s not in use at all in the most recent version?

@stevenlma : yes, you can rename the one in the **THEME** folder to anything,(I suffix it with “_HIDE” just to hide it from the plugin. That way the plugin will use the default one in the **PLUGIN** folder.

(the reason that file might be in the THEMES folder is because somebody needed to customize it at some point, as described here: https://wpforchurch.com/my/knowledgebase/73/Template-Tags.html)
