2.0.9 Update creates notice: Plugin…may be incompatible with A2

Same problem here. I think it may be related to running iThemes Security (Better WP Security), which I just learned is not compatible, even though I’ve been running it for a year with A2. ?? I ended up reinstalling my W3 Total Cache, but it took about 8 tries because there was some problem with the A2 plugin.

I just updated to 2.0.9.1, and the issue persists.

On one site, I have only a handful of other plugins activated: Error Log Monitor, Rename wp-login.php, Toolset, and Wordfence.

Wordfence may be the problem, disable and check.

Yes, the notice disappears when I disable Wordfence. Are these plugins not compatible?

There is a new version 2.0.9.2

I’ve seen these before and have Wordfence configured as specified.

I’ve updated to 2.0.9.2, and now the notice more helpfully says “Wordfence Security may be incompatible with A2 Optimized”

But I am still not able to dismiss the notice, so it displays on every single page of my admin! I guess A2 really doesn’t want me to use Wordfence?! Or are the two plugins really incompatible?

Honestly, I get more value out of Wordfence than A2 Optimized, as far as I can tell, especially since I don’t use W3 Total Cache. Unless there is some other benefit to A2 Optimized that I’m overlooking, I’m afraid I’ll opt to disable it to make this nuisance notice disappear.

The following plugins will display the warning, as they may cause issues with A2 Optimized:

WP Super Cache
WP Fastest Cache
WP File Cache
Better WP Security
Wordfence

Versions of W3 Total Cache higher than 0.9.5 are also not supported, but we offer a walk through to install a community support version if we detect that you are running incompatible version.

Version 2.0.9.2 of A2 Optimized now displays the plugin or plugins that are triggering the warning along with additional information related to the W3 Total Cache change.

@brit77: You are missing something, A2 Optimized is the way you control and configure W3TC. Otherwise you will have to configure it by hand and this can be a bit too complex.

@a2hosting: The message says “Wordfence Security may be incompatible with A2 Optimized”. A ‘may be’ should be a yellow warning with dismiss and not a red error.

@caban13 I’ve had too many problems with W3TC and ditched it long ago for a different caching solution. A2 Optimized does a little more than just W3TC, which is why I’m still using it. But I think I can do without since it doesn’t seem to do anything essential (vs. Wordfence which I consider an essential plugin).

Also, I agree, this notice really needs a way to be dismissed!
